AWARE Festival 2010
Responsible Dog Owners of Canada, in partnership with The Canadian Foundation for Animal-Assisted Support Services is hosting the second annual AWARE Festival * (formerly World Animal Day) on September 25th at Andrew Haydon Park, Ottawa, Ontario.
This all-inclusive event will include a walkathon for all rescues, including dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, horses, birds and reptiles, demos for the Canadian Canine Good Citizen Test, a demo on Rally-O, an animal blessing, vendors, information booths for rescues, pet services and animal-related organizations. There will also be a charity barbeque, entertainment, raffles, etc.
All approved rescues are invited to participate in the walkathon. A general pledge sheet will be available to recruit sponsors. A 5% administration fee of the total will be used to offset costs and build a fund for future AWARE Festivals and the remainder (95%) will be divided equally between the participating rescues.
Rescue and non profit booth spaces will be availalbe for a minimal fee of $10. Vendors may reserve booth space for $50. Pets are permitted but must be leashed, crated or properly restrained.
This is not a for profit event. RDOC and C4ASS is looking to build a solid, quality event, specifically dedicated to animals and the education of humans.
Anyone interested in participating in the walkathon or wishing to reserve booth space should contact Candice O'Connell at coconnell@responsibledogowners.com or call 613.228.7764.
We are also looking for volunteers and team leaders to assist with this special yearly event.
